Our Miami based law firm handles all state and federal criminal matters throughout the United States. The firm was founded by Bruce H. Lehr, one of Florida's top rated lawyers and selected by his peers for inclusion in "Super Lawyers" since 2012. For more than 30 years, Mr. Lehr has dominated criminal courtrooms in both the federal and state arenas and has handled cases on both sides of the gavel.
From 1979 until 1983, Mr. Lehr worked with Janet Reno at the Office of the State Attorney in Miami, Florida, where he was the Chief Prosecutor for the Dade County Courts and Senior Trial Attorney in the Narcotics Divisions. During his tenure at the State Attorney's Office, Mr. Lehr was appointed to become a member of the Florida Governor's Task Force in Alcohol and Highway Safety. In 1983, Mr. Lehr began his illustrious venture into private practice as a criminal defense attorney. Today, after more than 360 jury trials in both state and federal courts, Mr. Lehr continues to work tirelessly for his clients' rights. Mr. Lehr takes pride in explaining the law to his clients and presenting them with various options that will not only resolve their situation but ensure that the clients' individual needs and wishes are taken into consideration.
Mr. Lehr's partners, Andrew K. Levi and Sherleen Mendez, are equally committed to upholding the standards of excellence set by Mr. Lehr in representing all of their clients. Mr. Levi, a former state and federal prosecutor and accomplished litigator with over 22 years of experience in New York and Florida, has been instrumental in expanding the Firm's federal white collar practice and providing services to corporations facing regulatory change, civil disputes, or under criminal investigation. Honored with the 2006 "Most Effective Lawyer Award" in criminal law, Mr. Levi was recognized for his successful handling of various noteworthy, high profile white collar cases, including a $1 billion securities fraud involving 28,000 victims worldwide and the largest bank fraud in the history of the Southern District of Florida involving a loss of $50 million.
Sherleen Mendez, a former Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, heads the Firm's pre-trial litigation division. With over a decade of experience practicing in New York and Florida, her aggressive pre-trial motion practice has proven indispensable in the Firm's ability to win many of our cases at or before trial. Her extensive knowledge of the law, albeit state or federal, have led her to obtain equally successful results in post-conviction matters, oftentimes resulting in sentence reductions. Ms. Mendez's litigation practice focuses on all areas of criminal defense including white collar cases, pre-indictment investigations, and post-conviction relief. She has litigated numerous complex cases in both state and federal courts involving drug trafficking, fraud, public corruption, tax evasion, international and domestic extraditions, and violent offenses.
The Firm uses a team approach to prepare for all of its cases, using our attorneys' collective experience and skill set in order to provide our clients with the most effective representation available.
